week 3-5c: the touristy post

Now, I realise that even after oh-so-many posts about Nepal, I have yet to do the typical "touristy" photo blog post. So sucks to all of you, because that's exactly what this post will be.

But anyway: highlights of our boring weeks:

- playing LOTS of cheat/500 (both card games)
- watching "Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow) - it's a horrible movie. God awful. But so funny if you don't take it seriously. Look out for the miniature live rhino on an office desk. The movie never explains why it's there or how it's even relevant to the story.
- Dinner with Daphne - she was one of our original housemates. She moved to a different accomodation and invited us over for dinner. We had chocolate mousse- which was strange, as only the day previous, I had been craving mousse!
- Finding Higher Ground/Red Dingo - The first is a cafe with nice couches but never has power, so you can only get instant coffee. But it's a nice place to sit and read. I abused this place a lot. The second is an restau by an Aussie family. Expensive by Nepali standards, but nice food and great coffee. Has power most of the time and has one of the nicest toilets I've seen in Nepal.
- Temples. Lots of temples. We visited many temples. Most we're hindu/buddhist shrines. I maintain that Buddha could not be a fat man- all his temples take 30+ minutes of high incline climbing to get to! Now I know why he meditated on that mountain top for so long: he was just trying to rest after the climb!
- Watching/doing surgery- need one thing from the hospital at least! Got to do lots of suturing/assisting. I think I even spent a night there (it was boring as nothing happened)

Oh look. A riot. Let's join in. Yes. I'm very pro-whatever-you're supporting!

Jimbo decided to take a photo of me by surprise! Turns out that my most natural look is "terrorist"

I'm sure I've mentioned my love of OR2K - here I am in said place!

Here's Lexy and Jimbo- also at OR2K

Jimbo and a monkey. That is all.

Oh look! A temple.

Jimbo and Lexy pretending to be doctors. The window giving them the angelic glow scares me, especially since there was nothign angelic about the surrounds: leprosy clinic

Those crazy indians and an over-abundance of colour! What will they think of next?

Jimbo on Valentines day- having a dinner with....

Leprosy man!

Look at it spin.

Ok, I just can't do much more touristy. Just not enough angst for me to keep it up. So stay tuned for next post where we head out of the valley for the 1st time!

Yeah.
Me and leprosy man had a great night out ;).

Sadly, things started to fall apart after that ...
