random question...

Maybe it was the semi-procrastination-based-chat we were having the other day that triggered this off...

What do you do on a first date? How do you tell whether it went well or not?

So the other day Ivy, Kimanji and I sat and procrastinated for like 3 hrs over coffee and cake. And ofcouse, in the presence of girls, relationships will undoubtedly come up. My question is - what constitutes a first date? Is it simply meeting up with someone you have your eyes on? Does it HAVE to be dinner (hate those!) Do you both at some point have to say it was a date? I have no answer to this one...

Personally, I constitute the spending of time (the most valuable and finite resource of any living being) as a vital ingredient of a date. Oh - and they have to be by themselves. I don't mean they have to be in the middle of the wilderness, but atleast not in a group of friends. But all the many faithful readers of this blog should comment! (if anyone reads this - please send your 2c worth! C'mon!)

The other thing is - how do you decide if its going well or not? Is there a criteria? Does it have to involve a kiss? Or lots of bodily contact? Or sex? I suppose this one is variable - personally, I put it down to conversation and how well it flows - but I can talk a wall down when I feel like it, so hence it ainta very accurate marker for me. Again ppl comment here!!! (Please?!)
